2014-03-31 10:59

In the afternoon of March 30 local time, President Xi Jinping and King Philippe of Belgium attended together the opening ceremony of the panda garden in Pairi Daiza zoo in Belgium.

Upon their arrival, Xi Jinping and his wife Mme. Peng Liyuan were warmly greeted by King Philippe, Queen Mathilde and Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo. The state leaders of the two countries walked into the Chinese Garden together. It was like walking in a quiet, peaceful and harmonious Chinese painting of freehand brushwork, with the delicately painted and decorated pavilions, carved beams and painted rafters along the way, while birds twittering and flowers blooming with fragrance. The two heads of state and their wives walked along the winding corridor and path, through the green and luxuriant bamboo grove to the panda garden. They walked and talked on their way about the friendly exchanges between China and Belgium.

The Chinese side decided recently to send a pair of pandas to Belgium for joint scientific research. The two pandas named "Xing Hui" and "Hao Hao" left China and settled down in the zoo.

The two heads of state and their wives unveiled the panda garden. Many local people, the children in particular, were eagerly waiting there. Xi Jinping and Mme. Peng Liyuan gave panda dolls to the children, and the children presented their own paintings of the panda to Mme. Peng Liyuan and Queen Mathilde.

While Xing Hui was playing alone inside the room, Hao Hao was lying on the grass and bathing in the sun outside. Watching these cute pandas enjoying themselves, Xi Jinping said, it seems that they have already got accustomed to their new home. Xi Jinping said, pandas are the envoys of friendship. Xing Hui and Hao Hao come to Belgium, bringing with them the Chinese people's deep feelings towards the Belgian people. They hold the long-term Belgian visas, with a valid period of 15 years. We hope the Belgian children will love Xing Hui and Hao Hao, and will develop a fondness for China and the Chinese culture as well.
