Chinese Government Joint Work Team Pays Visit Again to Families of Chinese Passengers on Board the Missing Malaysia Airlines Flight

n March 14, 2014, the Chinese government joint work team and the staff of the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia went once again to visit the families of the Chinese passengers on board the missing Malaysia Airlines flight, and extended condolences to them and continued to inquire about their concerns.

Guo Shaochun, the team leader and Deputy Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs briefed the families on the work the team has done after they arrived in Kuala Lumpur. Guo said that upon their arrival, the joint work team accompanied by the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia has held several talks or counterpart communication with the Malaysian side, urging the Malaysian side to intensify their search, rescue and investigation efforts, to improve the transparency, authoritativeness and accuracy of the released information and to effectively conduct the work of assistance and service for the families of the Chinese passengers. The work team will conscientiously fulfill their responsibilities, continue to make all-out efforts to do the job well and meanwhile serve the families well. Guo also hoped that the families take good care of themselves and make joint efforts with the work team to effectively solve the problem.

The experts in the joint work team answered the questions raised by the families from a technical point of view, and said that they would continue to require the Malaysian side to further provide relevant materials and information.

The families said that they thank the motherland and its people for their concerns over the past several days, and also feel the family-like warmth from the work team and the Chinese Embassy, which make them feel relieved and dependable. Meanwhile, they hope that the Malaysian side would further intensify the search, rescue and investigation efforts, provide quick and comprehensive relevant information, and accommodate the reasonable concerns of all the families.

So far, 25 relatives of the Chinese passengers have arrived in Malaysia.
