In the morning of March 11, 2014, nine family members of the Chinese passengers aboard the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). The staff of the joint work team of the Chinese government and the Chinese Embassy, who had been waiting at the airport, extended them sincere condolences.

With the arrangements of the Malaysian side and their assistance, the families settled down smoothly.

In the afternoon of March 11, the work team and the Embassy staff came to visit the families. Guo Shaochun, the team leader and Deputy Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told the families that the Malaysia Airlines flight has been lost contact for over three days, and leaders of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the State Council all highly concern about the whereabouts of the flight and the safety of the Chinese passengers. The joint work team of the Chinese government came to Malaysia to work closely with the Malaysian side, to go further for coordination, to do the utmost to intensify search and rescue efforts, and meanwhile to speed up investigation. The work team and the Chinese Embassy will well assist and serve the families coming to Malaysia. Although they are far away from the motherland, it is the motherland that provides powerful backing for us all. He assured the families and asked them to take care of themselves.
