On March 11, 2014, the Chinese government joint work team and the diplomats of the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia went to the emergency command center of Malaysia Airlines located at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), to learn more about the situation on spot and exchange information and ideas with the Malaysian side.

Guo Shaochun, the team leader and Deputy Director-General of Department of Consular Affairs of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met with CEO of Malaysia Airlines, and the executives of the emergency command center. Guo Shaochun said that the Chinese government paid high attention on the loss of contact of the Malaysia Airlines flight, and the whole country is extremely concerned about the incident. The Chinese government sent the joint work team to Malaysia for more communications and coordination with the Malaysian side and to carry out close cooperation. He hoped that the Malaysian side could work with the Chinese side to intensify search, rescue and investigation efforts, and timely release authoritative information with more details and specifics. Meanwhile, he asked the Malaysian side to provide good service for the families of the Chinese passengers on board who came to Malaysia and to ensure their safety and comfort during their stay in Malaysia.

The Malaysian side said that they fully understand the concerns about the incident of the Chinese government and all circles of the Chinese society. They are doing their utmost to conduct search and rescue operation and investigation. The Malaysia Airlines has sent a work team to Beijing to coordinate and cope with the incident and will well arrange the families of the Chinese passengers coming to Malaysia. The Malaysian side will continue their close communication and cooperation with the Chinese side.
