On March 4, 2014, Vice Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping and Belarusian Deputy Foreign Minister Valentin Rybakov held a consultation in Minsk on China-Belarus relations and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) affairs.

Cheng Guoping said that China attaches importance to developing relations with Belarus and will actively implement the consensus reached by the state leaders of the two countries on developing China-Belarus comprehensive strategic partnership, reinforce mutual political support, and promote cooperation in all fields for more tangible results.

Valentin Rybakov said that, it is one of the priorities of the foreign policy of Belarus to develop relations with China. Belarus firmly supports China's principle position on major issues of Taiwan and of those related to Tibet and Xinjiang. Belarus hopes to further deepen the practical cooperation between Belarus and China.

Both sides agreed that the sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity of the regional countries and the development path they choose for themselves should be respected. Both sides oppose any interference of foreign forces in the internal affairs of the regional countries, and call on all parties concerned in Ukraine to seek for political resolution to the disputes through dialogues and consultations under legal framework, so as to stabilize the situation and restore social order as soon as possible.
