Wang Yi Meets with Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius of France

On January 22, 2014, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius of France in Montreux, Switzerland.

Wang Yi said, China-France relationship is now in an important period. The 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-France diplomatic relationship will come next week. Both sides will hold a series of celebration activities, and are planning the exchange of important visits. We should make joint efforts to fully reflect the strategic and special bilateral relations, to further clarify the direction and overall planning of the future development of the bilateral relations, and to unceasingly enrich the contents of the bilateral strategic partnership to push forward China-France relations to a new high.

Laurent Fabius fully agreed with Foreign Minister Wang Yi for his positive comments on France-China relations. France-China relations are very important. France looks forward, through exchange of high-level visits, as well as activities like the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-France diplomatic relationship, to further deepening bilateral pragctical cooperation in economy, trade, nuclear energy and other fields, to achieve better than ever development of the bilateral relations.

Both sides exchanged views on Syria, Iran nuclear, China-Japan relations and other issues. They agreed to further strengthen strategic consultations and cooperation, to jointly safeguard peace and stability of the world and the region, and to uphold the outcomes and order from the World War II.
