APEC 2014 First Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM1) and Related Meetings will be held in Ningbo

China will host the First Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM1) and Related Meetings of APEC 2014 from February 15th to 28th in the city of Ningbo, Zhejiang Province. About 70 sessions of meeting will be held during the time, including the Senior Officials' Meeting from February 27th to 28th, with meetings of APEC Committees, Sub-Committees, Working Groups and Workshops arranged ahead. The meetings will cover a broad range of areas including Trade and Investment, Standards and Conformance, Customs Procedures, Business Mobility, Human Resource Development, Electronic Commerce, Anti-corruption, Food Security, Health, and Emergency Preparedness. The APEC China 2014 Organizing Committee has already distributed the Invitation Letter to delegates from Mr. Li Baodong, APEC 2014 SOM Chair and Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, along with the Administrative Circular of the meeting. From the beginning of this year, China has assumed the host of APEC, and is expected to host throughout the year more than one hundred APEC meetings and related events. SOM1 in Ningbo is the first APEC event in China this year. Under the theme of APEC 2014 "Shaping the Future through Asia-Pacific Partnership", delegates from Economies will discuss and promote pragmatic cooperation on the following three proirities: Advancing Regional Economic Integration; Promoting Innovative Development, Economic Reform and Growth; and Strengthening Comprehensive Connectivity and Infrastructures Development.

Ningbo is a major port on the southeastern coast of the Chinese mainland, and also a national famous historical and culture city. It's known as the economic center in the southern part of the Yangtze River Delta, since it boasts a robust private sector and is a major port for foreign trade. The port of Ningbo is the 3rd largest in the Chinese mainland and the 6th in the world. Since the Reform and Opening up, Ningbo has enjoyed rapid and sound social-economic development, and became one of the most developed and dynamic regions in China.
