2014-01-07 19:48

On January 6, 2014, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Ethiopian Foreign Minister Tedros Adhanom visited the African Union Conference Center, situated in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Wang Yi said, the African Union Conference Center is another monument for China-Africa friendship. As early as in the 1970s, China helped Africa construct the Tanzania-Zambia Railway. This grand Conference Center is China's biggest assistance project in Africa after the Tanzania-Zambia Railway. They both are proofs that China's assistance and support to Africa is persistent and consistent and that the friendship that the Chinese people hold for the African people is everlasting.

Wang Yi pointed out, the African Union Conference Center is a symbol of China's firm support to the African integration process. The leaders of African countries and people from different communities gather together in this building to discuss Africa's future, Africa's solidarity and Africa's improvement through unity. This building will witness the accomplishment of the African integration and the fulfillment of the African dreams.

Wang Yi said, the African Union Conference Center is a well-built facility, which should be maintained and operated in a sound manner so as to ensure that it can serve its purposes and functions on a lasting basis. China has sent a large number of technical professionals to work together with the friends in Ethiopia and the African Union for joint management and maintenance of the Conference Center. Hope that the African friends can get familiar with the new building the sooner the better and work together with the Chinese engineering and technical professionals to make this monument of China-Africa friendship always stand in the hearts of Chinese and African people.
