Foreign Minister Wang Yi Holds Telephone Talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh of Vietnam

On December 30, 2013, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held telephone talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh of Vietnam.

Wang Yi expressed, China-Vietnam relations have now maintained a positive growth momentum. Recently, the state leaders of the two countries reached important consensus on advancing maritime, onshore and financial cooperation in parallel and fully promoting bilateral strategic cooperation. China highly values developing relations with Vietnam and is willing to work with Vietnam to well implement the consensus between the state leaders of the two countries, to strengthen high-level exchanges between the two countries, to well prepare for the seventh meeting of the China-Vietnam Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation scheduled for next year, to ensure success of the first round of consultations of China-Vietnam working group for maritime co-development and consultation next year and to conduct joint exploration in the waters outside the mouth of Beibu Bay as soon as possible so as to push for early and substantive progress of China-Vietnam joint maritime development.

Pham Binh Minh agreed with Wang Yi and expressed that Vietnam is willing to work closely with China to push for greater development of bilateral relations in the new year.

Both sides as well exchanged views on regional issues including the issue of Japan .
