Wang Yi Holds Talks with Foreign Minister Salaheddine Mezouar of Morocco

On December 23, 2013, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Foreign Minister Salaheddine Mezouar of Morocco in Rabat.

Wang Yi expressed, for the past 55 years since the establishment of diplomatic relationship, China and Morocco have enjoyed smooth development of bilateral relations. China is ready to work with Morocco to implement as soon as possible the consensus between the heads of state of the two countries for establishing China-Morocco strategic partnership and to build all-dimensional, multi-level and wide-ranging comprehensive cooperation with political equality and mutual trust, economic and trade mutual benefit and win-win outcomes and cultural exchanges and mutual learning. Both sides should achieve complementary advantages and common development.

Salaheddine Mezouar expressed that Morocco-China relations are sincere and friendly. Morocco appreciates China for the commitment to promoting reform and opening up, for driving global economic growth through its own economic development and for playing an important role and shouldering major responsibilities at the international arena. Morocco is ready to establish strategic partnership with China at an early date so as to push forward bilateral relations to a new high.

Both sides agreed that China and Morocco should strengthen exchanges between the government departments, legislative bodies, political parties and local governments, keep close the political and consular consultation mechanisms between the Foreign Ministries, and deepen mutual trust. To strengthen cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, infrastructure construction, fishery and phosphate, to work together for carrying out industrial cooperation with Africa and Europe and to push for new breakthroughs of practical cooperation. To promote cultural, tourism and youth exchanges, to provide more facilitation for personnel exchanges and to expand the foundation of public opinion and society for the friendship between the two countries. China will encourage more Chinese tourists to travel to Morocco and expand Chinese language teaching in Morocco. To continue enhancing communication and coordination on the reform of the UN Security Council, counter-terrorism and other major international issues so as to jointly safeguard legitimate rights and interests of developing countries.

Following the talks, Wang Yi and Mezouar jointly signed the economic and technological cooperation agreement and the agreement on mutual visa exemption for holders of official and diplomatic passports.
