2013-12-26 21:08

On December 25, 2013, when holding talks with Foreign Minister Saud Al-Faisal of Saudi Arabia in Riyadh, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi expounded on China's principle in settling the hot spot issues in the Middle East, such as the Syria and other issues.

Wang Yi said that as a Permanent Member of the United Nations Security Council and a responsible big country, China is ready to actively participate in the settlement process of the hot spot issues in the Middle East, such as the Syria and other issues. The most important principle that China adheres to is upholding justice. We will decide on our position based on the merit of the issue and take into account the fundamental interests of the Syrian people when playing our role. China adheres to the peaceful settlement of disputes through political means, and is committed to maintaining the basic principles of international relations, especially insisting on noninterference in the internal affairs of other countries, as well as on mutual respect and equal treatment, which is also the foundation for the developing countries and small and medium-sized countries to settle down and get on with their pursuit. China never pursues self-interest in resolving regional hot spot issues, and also opposes wrestling among big countries that complicates the situation. China will play a positive and constructive role, and always be a reliable friend and partner of the countries in the region.
