On December 19, 2013, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Jerusalem.

Netanyahu expressed that, both Israel and China are ancient civilizations with time-honoured history and enjoy bright prospects. Israel admires China for the great achievements. Israel is willing to combine its own scien-tech advantages with the huge market and abundant capital of China, to realize the goal of doubling bilateral trade volume at an early date and to strengthen cooperation in the fields of water resources management, health care, agriculture and green energy. The Israeli side takes peace talks with Palestine very serious and is committed to promoting the peace process.

Wang Yi expressed that, China-Israel relationship enjoys firm foundation, rapid growth and huge potential. It brings tangible benefits to both peoples. China always values the relations with Israel. China is willing to push for the implementation of the important consensus reached between the state leaders of the two countries during Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to China in May, to consolidate China-Israel traditional friendship and to deepen practical cooperation in all fields so as to push for greater development of China-Israel relations from a new starting point. China is ready to carry out more high-level exchanges with Israel, to fully leverage the leading and coordinating role of China-Israel intergovernmental cooperation mechanism, to explore the complementary advantages of resources of the two countries and to build new highlights for China-Israel mutually beneficial cooperation in the new era. Hope Israel will actively join in China's process of fully deepening reform and will take a more open and flexible attitude on high-tech export to China.

Wang Yi said, realizing peace between Israel and Palestine conforms to the fundamental and long-term interests of Israel. Hope Israel will make the right decision at the critical moment of the peace talks, promoting the process of peace talks to lay the solid foundation for peace in the Middle East.
