Wang Yi Holds Talks with Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki of Palestine

On December 18, 2013, Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talkswith Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki of Palestine in Ramallah.

Wang Yi said, this year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of China-Palestine diplomatic relationship. President Mahmoud Abbas paid a successful visit to China. President Xi Jinping raised important four-point proposal on resolving Palestine issue. Both sides reached important consensus on the future development of China-Palestine relationship.

Wang Yi expressed that China and Palestine have set up an example for friendly relations between China and Arabian countries as well as a model for equality between big and small countries. For the next stage, China is willing to work with Palestine, with implementing the consensus between the state leaders of the two countries as the principal line, to further deepen traditional friendship and to promote practical cooperation. China will continue to firmly support the just cause of Palestine to restore its legitimate national rights and to play a more positive and constructive role in pushing forward the Palestine-Israel peace process. China will encourage Chinese institutions and enterprises to invest and develop their business in Palestine to better benefit the Palestinian people with outcomes of practical cooperation. China will well implement the personnel training programs for Palestine, will strengthen bilateral people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and will further expand the friendship between the two peoples. China will speak out for safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of the Palestinian people at the UN and other international arenas.

Riyad Al-Maliki expressed that Palestine and China have always offered mutual understanding and mutual trust to each other, and enjoyed strong and stable friendly relations. Palestine is grateful for China for supporting Palestine for the cause of independence and the establishment of the Palestinian state. The social and economic development of Palestine is also inseparable from the support from China. Palestine is always willing to deepen cooperation with China and to benefit the people.

Following the talks, Wang Yi, accompanied by Riyad Al-Maliki, toured the building of Palestinian Foreign Ministry which is now under construction with the aid from China and scheduled to be completed the first half of next year.
