Wang Yi stressed that this year, guided by the state leaders of the two countries and with the joint efforts of both sides, China-US relationship is off to a good start and enjoys stable development as a whole. Next year will be critical for China as well as the U.S.. We hope the US side will move in the same direction with China to well implement the important consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and President Barack Obama, to keep to the direction of the bilateral relationship, to maintain strategic communication, to deepen strategic cooperation, to enhance strategic mutual trust, to properly handle differences and sensitive issues, and to truly take actions to build up the new model of major-country relations between China and the US.

John Kerry said that the US is willing to strengthen bilateral exchanges with China, as well as communication and cooperation on major international and regional issues, working together to build up the new model of major-country relations between the US and China.

Wang Yi said that China has noticed that the U.S. side recently took some peace-making actions on Palestine-Israel issue. In two days time, I will make my first visit to the Middle East. It aims to implement the four-point proposal of President Xi Jinping on the solution of Palestine issue raised in May this year, and to further promote peace and talks between Palestine and Israel. China believes that under the current situation, both Palestine and Israel should seize the opportunity, adhere to the path of peace talks, take more practical measures, build up and accumulate mutual trust, and try hard to make substantial progress in peace talks as soon as possible. China is willing to maintain communications with the US in this regard.

John Kerry talked about the current situation of Palestine-Israel peace talks and the considerations of the US side. He expressed that he wishes Foreign Minister Wang Yi achieving expected results for the Middle-East visit, and that the US is willing to carry out cooperation with China.

Wang Yi stressed that political solution is the only way out for Syria issue. The second Geneva meeting on Syria issue is scheduled late January next year. China hopes that all parties concerned will make joint efforts to ensure that the meeting will be held as scheduled and will make positive progress, and will substantively launch the political transition process in Syria.

John Kerry said that Syria issue can only be solved through political approach. The US attaches importance to the role of China, and is willing to keep contact with China.

Both sides also exchanged views on restarting Six-Party Talks on Korean Peninsula nuclear issue and other topics.
