On May 10, 2013, visiting Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao met with Julian Dominguez, President of Argentine Chamber of Deputies, in Buenos Aires.

Li Yuanchao said that he met with President Cristina Fernandez, and held talks with Vice President and Senate Speaker Amado Boudou earlier in the day. The meeting and the talks are practical and fruitful. He was impressed by the importance attached by Argentina to developing relations with China and was inspired by its keenness to enhance bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various fields. He listened carefully to the proposals raised by the Argentine side for the development of bilateral ties. China's relevant departments will surely work on it. China and Argentina have kept close exchanges between their legislative bodies in recent years. He believes that the two sides will actively exchange experience in lawmaking and governance and be committed to boosting mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.

Li Yuanchao said that Dominguez had served as Minister of Agriculture, Fishing and Livestock for quite some time. Argentina is a big agricultural country, formulating last year its 2020 vision for agricultural development. China is also a big agricultural country, attaches great importance to agriculture for its role as the base for the national economy. In the field of agriculture, China and Argentina are highly complementary with huge potential for cooperation while China is a large supplier and Argentina has a huge demand. The two sides should consolidate exchanges and continue to upgrade the cooperation.

Dominguez said the Argentina-China ties have witnessed rapid development in the past decade and are now at their best. The two countries firmly support each other on issues regarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity and hold similar views on their national development strategies as well as economic and trade cooperation plans. As Argentina has strong capacity for grain production, there is great potential for agricultural cooperation between the two countries. Argentina will actively participate in the first forum of agricultural ministers between China and Latin American countries later this year, and wishes to carry out comprehensive win-win cooperation with China on the basis of mutual benefit and common development.
