President Hu Jintao's Special Envoy Jiang Shusheng Meets with Re-elected Argentine President

On December 10, 2011, Chinese President Hu Jintao's special envoy Jiang Shusheng, also vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, met with re-elected Argentine President Cristina Fernandez in Buenos Aires.

Jiang conveyed to Fernandez congratulations and good wishes of Hu and Premier Wen Jiabao and presented to her a letter from President Hu Jintao. China always treats and develops China-Argentina relations from strategic perspectives, and is ready to work with Argentina to deepen strategic mutual trust, expand pragmatic cooperation in various fields and keep closer multilateral cooperation in a bid to promote the bilateral strategic partnership to a new level for the benefit of both peoples, he said.

For her part, Fernandez thanked President Hu for sending a special envoy to attend her inauguration ceremony and asked Jiang to convey her cordial greetings to President Hu and Premier Wen. She said that Argentina attaches great importance to developing its relations with China. Argentina, she said, is willing to boost mutually beneficial and friendly cooperation with China in such fields as economy and trade, culture and science and technology, and further enrich the strategic partnership between the two countries.

On the same day, Jiang attended the inauguration ceremony of Fernandez.
